  Pastor's Message
January 2012
Dear Friends,

I hope that you all had a blessed Christmas and that you were able to take some time to reflect on the past year.  For many it was a real challenge as the tornado in the spring wreaked havoc on our community.  So we look with new hope to a new year filled with fewer challenges and we thank God for the strength we were all given to overcome hardships or to help others.

A new year has come and with it a fresh calendar. Three hundred and sixty five days of possibility. We have been trying to kick bad habits.  Or maybe we simply want to become closer to God.  Many of us found that the prayer practice that we kept throughout the "Building on Faith" campaign was very meaningful and so I would encourage you to keep praying, "God, what is it that you want to do through me?"  Praying that prayer each day, we put our days and lives in God's hands.  We might find ourselves having what it takes to break bad habits.  We might find ourselves meeting people to help us or encourage us in our daily lives.  We might find ourselves helping people in ways that we wouldn't have thought of on our own.  What we found through praying that prayer for two months during the capital campaign, is that God can do much more through us than we thought we could do.  We also learned that it takes all of us, no matter what our gifts or what size our gifts are, to accomplish God's will.  Who knows what God can do through us?  Praying for God's guidance in our lives assures us that no matter what comes our way, God is there walking the road with us.

I have such hope for the New Year. I hope you do too!

Phil and I want to thank you for your generous Christmas gift.  We never in a million years thought we would be living this life of ministry and we have been so blessed by being a part of this church.  We love you all.

Grace and Peace,
